About Us

Mercy House Drugs Treatment and Rehabilitation Project was started by Mr. P. Sumith Herdly Fernando in 1998, and today it’s a very successful project where young men, through residential care can get free from drug addictions. The project provides counselling, medical assistance, emotional and spiritual support, as well as family support while these men are away for the six-month residential program.

During rehab, the ‘brothers’ receive vocational training such as cultivation and Organic Farming, Animal Farming, Cement Block Stone Works, Welding Works, Basic Computing and How to create Organic fertilizers. After successful completion of the program, the men have several options as they can remain and become further involved with the project or they can integrate back into their families. Those who have exited the program are members of a group known as the “Sons of Mercy”, which is a support group for the program and meets regularly

Upcoming Projects

Under the supervision of our Founder Mr. P. Sumith Herdly Fernando, Mercy House Drugs Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre’s next phase is to professionally train the rehabilitates through a qualified vocational training certification programme for their living. And the building is under construction.
